Retention

Retention measures how many users remain active after a given period (day-7, day-30, and so on) and is the clearest signal of real product value. Flat or rising retention curves indicate product-market fit; steadily declining ones indicate a leaky product no amount of acquisition can fix. Retention compounds — it's the engine behind sustainable growth.
